| Home Screen - Monday, 04 Feb 2013 17:20
So here it is... My home screen. I just thought I'd share it and why it works for me.
First I separate things by row...
Row 1 Social apps and personal communication apps. I find that I use these quite a bit.
Mail is a go to for me and I wouldn't have it any other place
Skype I use for keeping inn touch with family around the world/country
Messages is there just because it is so darn useful.
Google Voice is in this row due to the fact that most people I share my number with have this one and I can txt them back even from my ipad.
Tweetbot is the one social app I have for a social network. I use it like a stream of consciousness to find out what is going on in the world.
Row 2 Reading and Reference are in this strip and I usually use all of them every day.
Bible app for reading
iBooks is a great PDF and book reader and II use it quite a lot.
Instapaper is one of the must have apps if you are finding great things on the web but don't always have time to read them
Safari just for the web...
1Password is a great place to store sensitive data and browse secure web sites.
Row 3 Documents and Data is my place for writing and creating documents.
I use the iWork apps for normal things and I use them all with regularity so they all stay on the home screen. PDF Pen is great for creating documents by handwriting in them as well as marking up PDF files for later reference. I use this one the least of all these I think but when I do it is super useful.
Textastic is a code editor and FTP engine that is great for web development.... Aka geeky web stuff.
Row 4 Creative Things are just that, creative. I like to use these aps regularly to keep thins exciting on my ipad.
Snapseed is my go to photo editor on iOS hands down.
Comic life is fun for creating collages and quick little comics from family and friend photos.
Ink is my favorite drawing app. It can output at upto 100Mp.
Bebot is a great music app for creating music in a non serious way
iMovie is actually more useful to me on iOS than on my iMac. I have been editing videos on here that I have been trying to get to on my mac for years.
Drawer Photos Thoughts and Productivity
Camera for snapping quick photos and document "scans"
Photos for looking at these plus the others I shoot.
Notes for quick ideas and notes
iThoughts HD is a mind mapping app that I couldn't get along without. I use this app for everything. I use it for planning many projects and tasks.
Calendar is just useful and so it's here.
Omnifocus is my second brain
There you have it... The home screen... As it stands today.
| Quit All - Friday, 01 Feb 2013 00:00 I don't know why I wrote this some time back... This same process can be accomplished by logging out. Anyway, this script goes through the list of running apps and quits them one at a time.[download]
tell application "System Events" set visible of every application process to true set theProcs to every application process whose visible is true end tell set theApps to {} repeat with i from 1 to count of theProcs if displayed name of item i of theProcs is not "Finder" then copy displayed name of item i of theProcs to end of theApps end if end repeat repeat with i from 1 to count of theApps set theApp to item i of theApps tell application theApp to quit end repeat
| On Thin Ice - Thursday, 17 Jan 2013 12:34
Out for a paddle today... It is below freezing and it sure feel it. Saw a pair of eagles in a tree.
| Frozen Water - Saturday, 12 Jan 2013 18:35The temps were so cold today I had to melt the digs water bowl every trip they took outside today. I think I just was pouring more ice on top of the old ice in reality.
| The Problem With CFLs - Friday, 11 Jan 2013 19:14Halls, bathrooms and kitchens are stupid places for cfl bulbs... They burn out in less than 6 months... These lights don't like short duration use.
| 32GB - Friday, 11 Jan 2013 15:45I am under 32GB on my itunes library. I will not need a 64GB ipod when I get a new device. I have been on a mad deleting rampage and am really liking cleaning up stuff. Music went from 27GB of 128K files to 6.5GB of 256K files... I am just under 900 tracks. My audiobooks are a bigger pile though but they are slowly going away as I listen to them. No movies, just home videos. A pile of books and less than average number of apps.
I will be down to the mid/low 20GBs soon.
| Quote for the Day - Friday, 11 Jan 2013 09:38"What day is it?"
"It's today, " squeaked Piglet.
"My favorite day, " said Pooh.
